International Space Station (ISS) orbiting above the Earth. Blue and brown solar panels extend out from the ISS, providing power for the Station. The modules (from right to left) are Destiny, Unity (hidden), Zarya and Zvezda. A Soyuz escape capsule is docked at the left end of the ISS. The ISS is a joint effort between NASA, ESA, the Russian space agency, Canada, Japan and Brazil. It orbits at an altitude of 350 kilometres and will be over 100 metres in length. It has been manned since October 2000 and is scheduled for completion in 2004. Photographed on 20 August 2001, from the departing Space Shuttle Discovery, near the end of mission STS-105 to rotate the ISS crew.
