Scanning electron micrograph of 12.5mg tablets of Saxin, brand name of an artificial sweetner contaning soluable saccharin. Soluable saccharin is the sodium salt of saccharin (chemical name, 2,3-dihydro-3-oxobenzisosulfonazole). In dilute solution it has a sweet taste - some 300-500 times sweeter than sugar. Its taste is detectable at a dilution of one part in 100,000. It is used as a non-fattening sweetner. Mag: X20 (at 10x8 size).
