In 1819 wall paintings were uncovered during refurbishment work. Two depicted virtues in the character of armed women overcoming their opposite male vices. Debonerete, or Tranquility, here triumphs over anger. The Society\'s secretary asked Charles Stothard to record the paintings as soon as they were discovered, and were later issued in the Society\'s series Vetusta Monumenta in 1842.); English, out of copyright.
