Crop Spring By Helicopter -- A view of helicopter in action spraying the vast fields of potatoes at Downham Market, Norfolk with an anti-potato blight fungicide. The helicopters work as can be seen, at about ***** the ground. Crop spraying of insecticides and fungicides is now in progress up and down English countryside and, in keeping with this modern age fields of potatoes in Norfolk are being sprayed by helicopter. Apart from the greater speed and lessening of damage to the crops which can occur by ground methods of spraying, the helicopter method has a unique advantage in that the force of downward air from the ***** blades causes a percentage of the chemical to pass under the ***** potato or other crops, thus coating the underside.
