Mockridge making an honor lap after winning the Grand Prix de Paris. Russell Mockridge, Australia's greatest allround cyclist, was killed instantly today in his wife's sight. A motor bus ran over him in a race crash at North Clayton. His wife, Irene, and their daughter, aged two, were following the race. A wheel of the bus passed over Mockridge's head. Mrs. Mockridge leapt from a car, screaming, as she saw her husband lying on the road. August 11, 1952. (Photo by The Associated Press Ltd.).
