New Vehicles for the Royal Train -- Mr. A. Sephton, Royal Saloon attendant, at the Royal Entrance to the train. Aged 50, Mr. Sephton has been on Royal Trains for 22 years. Two new railway saloons, completed at the L.M.S. works at Wolverton (Bucks) in 1941, are now in the permanent formation of the LMS Royal Train. Each has a lounge, bedroom and bathroom, with accommodation for their Majesties personal attendants. Each is loon is fitted with private phone and air-conditioning, and the king's Saloon has a 12 valve radio-receiver. During the war this Train covered some 36,000 miles, and also used on many journeys on other main line routes. Added to it at the same time as the Royal Coaches was a new 52 tons combined sleeper, brake and power car with accommodation for 14 train staff, an engine room for generator sets, and a 25 line telephone exchange giving communication throughout the train.
