The Furies Of Mount Etna As Seen From The Air - Villages Are Still Threatened -- An air view of angry Mount Etna, showing the great streams of lava which are still pouring down the slopes of the erupting volcano, as clouds of smoke billow out into the air. During the night searchlights are played on the slopes to assist the watch on the lava which is advancing towards the villages of Milo and Renazzo. The half-mile wide lava stream had slowed to a rate of 30-feet an hour, and has also changed direction so that the village of Fornazzo is again threatened. The volcano shows no signs of ending the eruption. December 12, 1950.
