Polaris (centre) immersed in diffuse clouds from Integrated Flux Nebulas (IFN). Polaris, commonly known as the North Star or Pole Star, is the brightest star in the constellation of Ursa Minor. IFN, termed by Steve Mandel, are high galactic latitude nebulae outside of the Milky Way that are illuminated by the energy from the integrated flux of all the stars in the Milky Way.
