Tuscany; city of Montalcino: view from Piazza Garibaldi into Via Bandi with poster of annual wine tasting event "Benvenuto Brunello" (Welcome to Brunello) and church tower (Campanile) of Montalcino Cathedral of the Holy Savior (Duomo di Montalcino; Concattedrale di San Salvatore); Montalcino Cathedral was built 1818 - 1832 in Neo-Classical style according to plans of architect Agostinio Fantastici from Siena. The Cathedral is at the place of the earlier Romanesque style church Pieve di San Salvatore dating back most probably to 1000 AD (11th century). It got the status of being cathedral; in 1462 by Pope Pius II. The bell tower is from 18th century.
