PHRA MALAI.

Bronze with gilding and red lacquer. With the left hand he holds the device for the characteristic blindfold he was shadowing his eyes with. Phra Malai is considered a monk with magical abilities; who lived in the 13th or 16th century. His travels to various hells are part of the Buddhist tales in Thailand. Height 49.5cm. Condition A/B.Art trade; Van Ham.
