Jule Pyle, 21 year old daughter of famous New York surgeon is one of four women aboard the Yankee. She takes trick at wheel, shares ship's work on equal footing with men. Brigantine Yankee is steel ship built for German pilot service in North Sea and later became Luftwaffe yacht. She was taken over as prize of war and sold by British to her present owner, who rigged her specially for simple sailing. She has two 55 horse power diesel auciliaries but seldom uses them, even in narrow waters. July 06, 1951.
