Spain; city of M醠aga: main facade (detail) of Teatro Cervantes; Teatro Cervantes was built in style of Eclecticism at the place of Teatro del Pr韓cipe Alfonso which had been destroyed by fire. The design was made by architect Ger髇imo Cuervo y Gonzalez (1838 - 1898) and the painters Mu駉z Degrain and Bernardo Ferr醤diz. Inauguration day of the new theatre was 17th of December 1870 with Rossini opera "Wilhelm Tell". Heavily destroyed in the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War; the theatre later on served as cinema; was taken over; by the city; in 1984; and reopened; in 1987.
