The clock tower was the bell tower (campanile) of church of St Augustine. The Pulcinella statue; restored 2015; was installed here in 1680 or late 17th century; by a priest from Naples. It replaced an automatic machine; ringing the bell and announcing the daily hours; of 1524. Pulcinella; famous in Napoletan puppetry and meaning "little chicken" or "little rooster"; is a famous figure of the Italian Commedia dell`Arte; but dates back even to antique Roman and pre-Roman times.
