Food Storage Box; 1611. Made in Friesland or Netherlands; Holland This octagonal box was used to store food or possibly salt. It is hollowed out of the solid and decorated with chip-carved geometric and floral designs. An interesting feature is the carved 'X' on either side of the tulip. This marks the only spot where the lid will fit accurately.
