Indian;Udaipur (Mewar; Rajasthan); 1648-53.- Illustration: Sita throws herself into the great fire; Agni; the golden god of fire; rises from the flames and testifies to Sita's purity. The gods; led by Brahma on his bird Hamsa; Indra on his elephant; and Siva and Parvati on the bull Nandi; come down from heaven; and Dasaratha comes back from the dead. They proclaim Sita's purity. Rama announces that he has not doubted her for a moment. He requests the god Indra to restore to life those monkeys who have died in the struggle; and when Indra departs with the other gods; he bathes the dead monkeys in nectar; so that they return; wildly rejoicing; to life. -From: the Mewar Ramayana (also: Jagad Singh Ramayana).Add. 15297 (1); f. 182rLondon; British Library.
