Megarian banded, or Mediterranean banded, centipede (Scolopendra cingulata). This centipede is easy to distinguish by the bands of black and yellow. Although large it is one of the smallest species in this family at around 10-15 centimetres. It is present across southern Europe and parts of North Africa. It prefers dark damp environments beneath logs and in the leaf litter. Photographed in Andalucia, Spain, in March.
