Dark-edged bee-fly (Bombylius major), a parasitic bee mimic and a member of the Bombyliidae family. This species appears in spring, flitting between the early spring flowers. The hosts species are usually solitary wasps and bees, the female flicking eggs into the nest entrance with the developing larvae making their way into the host nest.
