British astrophysicist Nicola Fox (born 1968) speaking to news media during a prelaunch mission briefing for NASA's Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) satellite. At the time she was the head of the Heliophysics division in NASA's Science Mission Directorate. Fox was appointed the Associate Administrator of the Directorate in February 2023. ICON launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on 10th October 2019. It studied the frontier of space, the dynamic zone high in Earth's atmosphere where terrestrial weather from below meets space weather above.
