Spacelab-J experiment. Astronaut Jan Davis working with the Free Flow Electrophoresis Unit (FFEU) in the Spacelab-J science module during Shuttle Mission STS-47. The FFEU was used during the experiment "Separation of Animal Cells and Cellular Organelles by Means of Free Flow Electrophoresis" (Designated L-8), a life science experiment provided by the Japanese space agency NASDA. Spacelab-J was a joint NASA/NASDA payload in which were performed 43 life and materials science experiments. STS-47 was launched on 12 September 1992, and returned to Earth on 20 September 1992.
