A dandy piegan. Around 1855; the young men began to make a parting in their hair from one temple to the other and to curl their back with a wand of a pre-heated rifle. Some made nates; others didn't. Photo taken from volume 6 of the encyclopedia published by Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952) on the Indians of North America; with a foreword by Theodore Roosevelt. Between 1907 and 1930; 20 volumes were published.
