Beam screen for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) project at CERN (European Particle Physics Laboratory). This screen is designed to increase the luminosity of the Large Hadron Collider by ten times its original value. The perforated beam screen optimises the beam aperture and provides adequate shielding to absorb the collision debris created at the interaction point. This helps to protect the superconducting magnets that are in use. Luminosity is a key indicator of the accelerators performance since it is directly proportional to the number of collisions that occur in a specific period. The High-Luminosity LHC will enable scientists to observe rare processes by collecting more data through higher luminosity. With this project, physicists can study known mechanisms such as the Higgs boson in greater detail and observe new, rare phenomena that could reveal themselves.
