Conjunctivitis (inflammation of the whites of the eyes) in a child with Kawasaki disease. This rare autoimmune disease mainly affects children under five. It causes the blood vessels to become inflamed leading to fever and generalised oedema. Complications can include heart disease and aneurysms. Its cause is unknown. Aspirin has shown some efficacy as treatment.
