Dermatoscope image of an angiofibroma on the skin of a 9 year old Hispanic girl. Angiofibromas are small firm dome-shaped papules caused by an overgrowth of collagen, fibroblasts and blood vessels. They are benign (non-cancerous) and may be found on the skin or mucous membranes. They may be caused by certain genetic diseases including tuberous sclerosis. Treatment is not required, but they may be removed for cosmetic reasons.
