Paint peeling on zinc coated corrugated steel. Weathering and other types of deterioration cause paint to crack and peel. On this panel of corrugated steel, which faces south, very high levels of solar heat have caused a mismatch between the expansion of the metal and the paint. As the loosened paint peels and curls it removes the surface of a thin layer of zinc that was applied to the steel to reduce rusting.
