This is a stylised artwork celebrating the discovery, at the Leiden Observatory in the Netherlands, of a multi-planet system around a young star called TYC 8998-760-1. The system consists of two massive planets in very distant orbits around their star, an orange sub dwarf. The system is notable because it's the first multiple-planet system that has been directly imaged, using the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (VLT). One of the scientists involved, Matthew Kenworthy - who commissioned this illustration - wanted it to reflect its discovery at the hands of the Dutch, so it was agreed to produce this image in the style of the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian (1872-1944).
