Researchers from the USA, India and Singapore have investigated the concept of using jet engines pointing to the sky to push atmospheric pollution upwards and away from cities. This pushes the pollution above the inversion layer in the atmosphere that can trap pollutants, causing smog that affects the health of the population. Experiments to test this concept were proposed in 2016.
