'George IV', (1762-1830), 1830. George IV (1762-1830) King of Great Britain and Ireland and King of Hanover from 1820, until his death. From 1811 he served as regent during his father's final mental illness. He commissioned John Nash to build the Royal Pavilion in Brighton and had a reputation for wasteful spending.
