'Fielding', (1707-1754), 1830. Henry Fielding (1707-1754) English novelist and dramatist educated at Eton College known for his satire, holds a place in the history of law enforcement, having used authority as a magistrate to found (with his half-brother John) what some have called London's first police force, the Bow Street Runners. From "Biographical Illustrations", by Alfred Howard. [Thomas Tegg, R. Griffin and Co., J. Cumming, London, Glasgow and Dublin, 1830]
