Illustration of an astronaut flying an untethered Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) near the proposed Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway, a manned moon-orbiting space station. The space station components include, from left to right: the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, a crewed habitation module and the Power and Propulsion Element ion propulsion module. The solar voltaic panels have a total length of 53 metres. Attached to the habitation module and extending toward the foreground is a JAXA H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV) automated cargo spacecraft. Opposite the HTV is a Cygnus Enhanced automated cargo spacecraft. Attached to the habitation module and extending toward the bottom of the image is a variation of the Canadarm2 Mobile Servicing System (MSS). The total length of this configuration is 25 metres. The plans for this space station are being led by NASA, co-ordinating between multiple space agencies.
