In this painting, two gentlemen anglers in tailcoats are fishing on the North Tyne. On the right a low cargo boat known as a keel is being poled across the river by two men. This is one of a group of drawings William Beilby made not long before he moved from the North East to London in about 1779. Beilby was a Newcastle decorator of expensive glassware, and a drawing teacher.); Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.
