Bald_faced hornet Vespula maculata, a type of yellow jacket wasp, uses its mandibles to spread a mixture of wood fibers and saliva to edges of nest in Ohio to expand. These paperlike nests can reach a meter in height and can house hundreds of wasps. These powerful wasps are found throughout North America.
