After allowing its venom to paralyze a moth that has flown into its web in French Guiana, a tropical orb weaver spider Eriophora ravilla wraps the moth in silk secreted from its spinneretes located at the end of its abdomen. Tropical orb weavers can attain a legspan of 7.5 cm , the size of some small tarantulas. They are found from the southern U.S. to northern South America where they build webs reaching 2 meters across.
