TILT up. Daylight. Exterior: Facade of the convent. The Baroque convent was built in 1636, after the canonization of St. Teresa, over the house where she was born in 1515. The facade has a Baroque and Neoclassic design, and was built out of granite. There are three portals and four sections, with several coats of arms. The convent was designed by Fray Alonso de San Jose, but was remodeled several times after that. Today the convent is one of two main destinations for Catholic pilgrims to Avila. Avila is a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.
