Cytoplasmic streaming. Real_time differential interference contrast microscopy footage of cytoplasmic streaming in plant cells. These are onion bulb scale epidermis cells. This is a partial view of one cell and its nucleus round and cell wall. The cytoplasmic streaming is seen either side of the nucleus. Cytoplasmic streaming, or cyclosis, is the mechanism by which general transport and solute movement takes place within cells. This two_way process is aided by the actin protein microfilaments of the cell磗 cytoskeleton.
