Gall in a thistle stem caused by a peacock fly Tephritidae. Galls are abnormal growths on a plant caused by infestation by an insect. Peacock flies lay their eggs on plants, which secrete chemicals causing the formation of the gall. The swollen gall provides protection and food for the developing larva. Filmed in Denmark.
