Dog intelligence testing. Xela, a border collie dog Canis lupus familiaris undertaking a computer_based cognition test. The tests involve remembering and ranking pairs of objects, which are then identified by nosing them on the touchscreen. Xela is rewarded with a treat below the screen when the correct image is selected, and shown a blank red screen when the wrong image is selected. The border collie is a working breed, and is widely considered one of the most intelligent of all dogs. This research is being carried out at the Wolf Science Centre at the University of Vienna, Ernstbrunn, Austria.
