American cockroaches Periplaneta americana in the bottom container scurry about while those in the top container are inactive after being chilled in refrigerator. Insects are cold_blooded which means their body temperatures change with the temperature of their surroundings. These cockroaches in the top container not harmed in any way and will become active once they warm up in a few minutes.
