Timelapse satellite footage of the path of Hurricane Sandy, from 24th October to 28th October 2012. Sandy struck Jamaica as a category one hurricane on 24th October, and moved northwards, strengthening to category two before passing over eastern Cuba. It then moved north through the Bahamas over the following days. In total it was responsible for at least 67 deaths in the Caribbean. As of 29th October it is heading north towards the northeastern coast of the USA. States of emergency have been declared in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and evacuation orders have been issued in Manhattan and other low-lying areas.
