Grooming is a frequent behavior of arachnids and insects and is important for keeping these organisms clean and free of bacteria and parasites. With eight legs, harvestman are often confused with spiders but they belong to a separate order of arachnids. Unlike spiders, their two main body parts (abdomen and cephalothorax) are joined, not separate. They are also unable to produce silk or venom. Also, unlike spiders which typically have eight eyes, harvestmen have only a single pair and a few species are blind. This species is found throughout Europe, Asia, North America, North Africa, and New Zealand.
