Purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) in flower. This plant is used in herbal medicine as an astringent, and it is also widely grown as an ornamental plant for its flowers and red autumn foliage. It can easily spread beyond the garde, however, with each plant capable of producing some three million seeds a year. It is considered an invasive plant in some areas. Filmed in Denmark.
