Adult honeybee (Apis mellifera) in process of eating its way out of honeycomb cell. A varrora mite (Varroa jacobsoni) can be seen scurrying into cell with the bee. Honeybees undergo complete metamorphosis, a process which includes four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult, the latter emerging from a honeycomb cell.
