Timelapse footage of a spectacular display of the aurora borealis, or northern lights, over Lapland in northern Sweden. This stereographic projected panorama was made during a rare aurora storm that appeared in the high-latitude skies in March 2012. A traditional Sami village near Kiruna appears in the foreground. The clip shows magnificent auroral coronas in several scenes. Aurorae are produced by the collision of high-energy charged particles, carried from the Sun by the solar wind, with atoms and molecules in Earth's upper atmosphere.
