Endoscope footage during a TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate) biopsy procedure. In this procedure, tissue from the inner part of the prostate is extracted to treat the symptoms of urethral obstruction due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlargement of the prostate) or prostate cancer. The endoscope footage shows the layer-by-layer resection of the prostate tissue by the electrical cutting loop. This instrument allows the tissue to be cut away and the heated electrical wire minimises bleeding.
