Animation of the structure of a molecule of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). This molecule has an octahedral geometry, with six fluorine atoms (green) forming an octahedron around a central sulfur atom (yellow). This geometry is adopted as the fluorine atoms repel each other, and are as far apart as possible. The black squares show that the angles between the molecules are 90 degrees. See clip K004 3553 for the molecule without this angle measurement.
