Bauxite is a mineral formed of a mixture of aluminium hydroxide and aluminium oxide hydroxides, typically with some iron and titanium oxides. Aluminium is extracted from bauxite by the Bayer and then the Hall-Heroult processes. It is the most common metal in the Earth's crust and the most widely used after iron.
