Evidence of water flow on Mars. A view from the Kimberley formation on Mars taken by NASA's Curiosity rover. The strata in the foreground dip towards the base of Mount Sharp, located in the middle of Gale crater, indicating flow of water toward a basin that existed before the larger bulk of the mountain formed. The Curiosity rover is part of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. It landed on Mars on 6 August 2012, on a mission to investigate the Martian climate and geology.
