Tracks of the Curiosity rover on Mars. View looking back at a dune that NASA's Curiosity Mars rover drove across three days earlier. The distance between the parallel wheel tracks is about 2.7 metres. The dune is about 1 metre tall in the middle of its span across an opening called 'Dingo Gap'. This view looks eastward. The Curiosity rover is part of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. It landed on Mars on 6 August 2012, on a mission to investigate the Martian climate and geology. Image obtained with the Mast Camera (Mastcam) on 9 February 2014.
