Timelapse footage of a sundog, or parhelion, setting through cirrus clouds. Sundogs are formed by the refraction of sunlight through countless tiny ice crystals high in the atmosphere. When the crystals are falling through the air they assume the same orientation, and refract light from either side of the sun, 22 degrees left and right of it and always at the same elevation. Filmed in the USA in spring.
