Timelapse footage of a microburst produced by a thunderstorm. The microburst is seen as a very localised area of heavy precipitation, which is falling into dry air below. This process causes very strong downward winds which radiate from the point of impact from the ground. Such winds are short-lived but intense, and pose a major danger to aircraft, and buildings and trees on the ground. Filmed in the USA on a winter afternoon.
