Craters on the Moon. View through a telescope moving across the heavily cratered lunar surface. At 86 kilometres wide and around 5 kilometres deep, the Tycho crater is the most prominent. It is surrounded by a distinctive ray system forming long spokes that reach as far as 1, 500 kilometres. The view moves on across the southern highland region where the Moon's surface is densely covered with overlapping impact craters.
